In a TV address, Putin said Russian forces fired a new medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile to target Ukraine's Dnipro. Putin said that Western air defences in Ukraine were powerless to stop the new missile, which he called the Oreshnik.

CORRECTION: Vladimir Putin has given a speech to the Russian nation a few hours after I have uploaded this video and has stated that:

The missile used in the hit was not an RS-26, as it was stated by the Ukrainian media. It was in fact an experimental missile, called Oreshnik. It has a range of around 1000-3000 km which covers all of Europe. It is important to note that this missile looks very similar to RS-26 (maybe even based on the same platform), which is why Ukrainian officials have identified it as the RS-26 Rubezh.
