The above verse cited (Ezekiel 48:35) tells us that Jehovah will one day exist within a righteous earthly temple of His making, a temple that has restored pure worship on earth, completely. Malachi 4:5,6; Matthew 17:10,11. Ezekiel chapters 40-48 gives us the entire scenario.
As shown in chapter 43 the nation of Israel has fallen into apostasy thus bringing Jehovah’s anger upon them as a nation and people. In this particular chapter of Ezekiel (43) it shows the leadership of the nation of Israel is particularly vexing to Jehovah and His standards of pure worship. They are truly wicked as they have put their “threshold beside Jehovah’s threshold and their doorpost beside Jehovah’s doorpost”, bringing His righteous wrath and anger upon them. They are showing themselves to be “a God”, rivaling Jehovah God in His temple. (2 Thess. 2:3-12)
This new arrangement is said to be led by a righteous priesthood on earth. It has in it a chieftain or prince (Ezekiel 44:2,3; 45:7; 45:16,17; 46:2-18; 48:21,22 ) who is leader of the spiritual nation as well as special priests called the “sons of Zadok” (Ezekiel 40:46; 43:19; 44:15; 48:11) who also take the lead in the re-establishment of pure worship on earth.
Ezekiel 43:7 “And He went on to say to me: “Son of man, [this is] the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I shall reside in the midst of the sons of Israel to time indefinite; and no more will they, the house of Israel, defile my holy name, they and their kings, by their fornication and by the carcasses of their kings at their death,”
Within this new righteous temple, Jehovah gives His people the assurance that this arrangement will become His throne or government on earth (as well as a priesthood) as He states it will become the place of the “soles of His feet”, where He specifically says He will reside among the nation of Israel forever more, and promises that they will never again defile His holy name with their spiritual fornication of their kings. So then, this temple will be both government and priesthood all rolled into one entity. In addition, these wicked kings are also referred to in the prophecy of Ezekiel as wicked chieftains in Ezekiel 45:8,9.
In our day and time, it would be very easy to identify this spiritual fornication practiced by Israel with the dastardly crime committed by the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses with the UN/NGO alliance that was revealed in 2001 by the Guardian Newspaper. Thus, we can make the connection between Israel going into apostasy and the Jehovah’s Witnesses as a people and nation using the prophecy of Ezekiel chapters 40-48.
Therefore, we can see why Jehovah will take up permanent residence in his new governmental and priestly arrangement on earth on a permanent basis as He takes decisive action against his own people and wicked leadership by establishing a new temple of pure worship on earth with new righteous spiritual leadership. It is in this earthly temple that Jehovah will dwell till time indefinite, or forever. (Ezekiel 43:7)
